iSuppli has reported a polysilicon shortage due to high demand for photovoltaic (PV) cells used in solar panels (http://www.eetindia.co.in/ART_8800520661_1800008_NT_819db18c.HTM). At least one research report predicts that India and China will lead PV supply in the near future. There is a lot of investment activity both local (such as those from Moser Baer) and foreign (latest being from Signet Solar in the Sriperembudur Special Economic Zone near Chennai).
